VICTOR KRISTIANSEN ADDRESSES LEICESTER CITY FUTURE AFTER RELEGATION TO CHAMPIONSHIP

Victor Kristiansen has committed to “giving his all” to Leicester City’s promotion push with the Danish left-back suggesting he will not look to leave this summer.

City’s squad is set to undergo huge changes after their fall into the Championship, with seven departures confirmed by the club on Monday night. But one player who looks to be sticking around is Kristiansen, who has said he is up for the fight in the Championship and the challenge of getting City back into the top flight.

The 20-year-old was playing Champions League football less than nine months ago, but after leaving FC Copenhagen to join City in January, he does not appear to be looking for a quick escape route. He was back in Denmark over the weekend to celebrate Copenhagen’s Danish Superliga title, receiving a medal as part of the trophy ceremony for his contributions to the campaign.

Reflecting on his season with City, Kristiansen told Danish broadcaster Viaplay: “It went great to begin with. Then life comes and gives you a gut punch when you are really flying.

“It was a turbulent time in Leicester. I really just look back now and have learned a lot of good lessons at a very young age. I'm sure that will only benefit me in the future.

“I am a Leicester City player, and it is with great pride. It's a great club and they've given me so much. Now I'm just waiting to give it all I've got in the Championship and get back in the Premier League.”

Kristiansen made a fine start after his £18m switch from his home country, but after an injury kept him out of the games in March, he then struggled to keep his place in the team. For the final three games, Dean Smith opted for Luke Thomas at left-back, with Kristiansen not even making the bench for the final match of the campaign.
