Tributes have been paid after the goalkeeper of the Glasgow-based Pollok FC has died.
Brian McNeil joined the club in late 2022 and his death was announced by the club today.
In a statement, Stewart Maxwell, Pollok manager, said: "Brian was well known throughout the football community. Likeable, kindhearted and loyal, were just a few of the big guy’s traits.
"A devoted family man who will be missed by many. On a personal level, Chris McFadyen and I will feel this loss more than many.
"At the moment, I cannot describe the loss the big man is to us. Love you big man, and rest easy."
People were quick to express their devastation in the comments.
One person said: "Such sad news, Brian was a gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time."
Another added: "Terrible news, knew Brian personally since I was about eight years old. Always had a big daft smile on his face, cracking jokes.
"Loved his family, goalkeepers and Rangers. Rest in peace, big man."
A third replied: "Absolutely gutted to wake up to this news this morning, Brain was a top guy, will be a big miss in and around the dressing room too, thoughts are with all his friends and family, rest easy."2023-05-26T20:05:22Z dg43tfdfdgfd
