Plymouth Argyle have confirmed that forward Niall Ennis will join Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers upon the expiration of his contract. The 24-year-old played a key part in the club's Sky Bet League One title winning success, scoring 14 goals.
Despite Ennis being offered a new and improved contract, he turned it down. Manager Steven Schumacher said he is disappointed to see Ennis depart but believes the squad will still be in a strong place for the start of the Championship campaign.
He commented: "It is always a shame to see talented players depart, and Niall played a big part in our success last season. We offered him a contract which we felt was fair but understand that he wants to pursue a new opportunity with Blackburn.

"Departures give opportunities for other players and we will continue working hard to strengthen our squad ahead of the upcoming season.”
The club said: "Argyle would like to thank Niall for all his efforts during his time with the club and wish him well for the future."
Ennis started his career at Wolves and had loan spells at Shrewsbury, Doncaster and Burton before joining Plymouth in January 2021. He scored a total of 22 goals in 87 league appearances for Argyle.
