NEWCASTLE SCOUT'S WEMBLEY ASSIGNMENT WITH VIKTOR GYOKERES TIPPED FOR £25M MOVE

Newcastle United are among the Premier League clubs linked with a move for Coventry City star Viktor Gyokeres. The Magpies had a scout in attendance to watch the Championship playoff final, where the Sky Blues' striker was in action during the defeat to Luton Town.

The Sweden international is expected to move this summer as Mark Robins' side were denied their unlikely top-flight return with a penalty shootout loss at Wembley on Saturday, with the Mail claiming Newcastle are interested.. Fankaty Dabo was the unfortunate victim after putting his sudden-death spot kick wide.

Gyokeres registered 22 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season, and is set to enter the final year of his contract at Coventry. Brentford and Everton are among the clubs linked with the 24-year-old, and now the Magpies have been credited with an interest.

It is set to be another busy summer at St James' Park, with Eddie Howe outlining the need to bolster the squad ahead of their return to the Champions League. However, a new striker would not appear to be the priority given the form of both record signing Alexander Isak and number nine Callum Wilson.

Howe also has a number of options from within the squad to cover up front, with Anthony Gordon, Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin all capable of playing through the middle. A recent report from Football Insider claims Newcastle are not in the market for a striker this summer, with the head coach 'happy with his current strike force'.
