JAMES WARD-PROWSE MAKES HONEST ADMISSION ABOUT SURPRISE NEW ROLE AT WEST HAM

James Ward-Prowse has made a big admission about the new role that he has acquired since joining West Ham United.

West Ham signed James Ward-Prowse from Southampton for around £30 million in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old already looks like a truly sensational addition for the Hammers, and David Moyes will be delighted that he signed him.

Ward-Prowse has two goals and three assists to his name in just four Premier League games so far this season (Transfermarkt).

We knew what we would be getting with the 11-capped England international – a hard-working, reliable pro with exceptional ability from dead-ball situations.

However, he has hinted that he has been given the license to change as a player…

James Ward-Prowse has license to roam at West Ham

The 28-year-old Hammers midfielder has been speaking to WHUFC.com about his start to the season at the London Stadium.

And JWP admitted that he is a different player now to the one he was at Southampton:

“I’m just trying to be flexible. Sometimes I need to be deep to get on the ball, and sometimes I’m a bit higher, but I try to be that box-to-box midfielder here. I feel like I have the license to do both here, which is good.”

It is clear to see that Ward-Prowse is playing more of a box-to-box role with West Ham than he was at Southampton.

With the Saints, the 28-year-old conducted the way that his side played from the middle of the park.

He’s definitely getting around the pitch more with the Hammers. His goal and assist tally has been mightily impressive this season, as has his defensive contributions.

If he goes on to racked up 12-15 goal contributions this season, he’ll have proven himself as one of the best signings of the summer. And whilst it’s not as headline grabbing as the goals and assists, the way that he gets stuck in defensively is hugely important to us as well.
