JACK BUTLAND CONTRACT DETAILS AS RANGERS SWOOP FOR FORMER STOKE CITY NUMBER ONE

Jack Butland is on his way to Scotland to try to reignite his career as a number one with Glasgow Rangers.

The former Stoke City number one has been on the sidelines for Crystal Palace and Manchester United, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, for much of the three years since leaving the Potteries.

But, a free agent this summer, he has been lined up by Michael Beale to compete with Robby McCrorie as a replacement for Ibrox favourite Allan McGregor.

Manchester United are believed to have offered Butland a permanent deal but, according to online transfer sage Fabrizio Romano, he is signing a four-year contract at Rangers to get back on the pitch.

Rangers have already signed Dujon Sterling, who spent last season on loan at Stoke, on a long-term contract as they try to wrestle the Scottish Premiership crown back from Celtic.

Butland joined Stoke from Birmingham in January 2013 and was player of the year in 2015/16 after stepping up to replace Asmir Begovic - but his international career was derailed by a complicated ankle injury and Stoke were relegated after he regained fitness. He left to join Palace in 2020.
