LUKE LITTLER FIRES WARNING TO RIVALS AFTER BEATING MICHAEL SMITH TO WIN WORLD SERIES OF DARTS

Luke Littler has warned his rivals that he's set to keep winning after securing victory at the World Series of Darts on Sunday night.

The 17-year-old went into the final on the back of impressive victories over the likes of Raymond van Barneveld, Chris Dobey and Michael van Gerwen.

Littler cruised to victory over Smith, with the youngster showing his quality with an 11-4 triumph.

Speaking to PDC.TV after his victory, the darts prodigy has now warned his rivals that he's set to keep winning in the coming weeks, months and years ahead.

“This time last year I was playing on the Development Tour; my name was getting mentioned," he said.

"But after the World Championship, everyone knew who I was.

“I’m going to keep building on this and winning more.

"It’s a busy schedule coming up and I’m ready for it.”

Despite his young age, Littler was actually seeded No 1 for the competition.

He had already won a pro title in Belgium earlier in the year before proceeding to secure Premier League glory.

And Littler admits he feels unstoppable at the current moment in time.

"I'm really happy to get the win here this weekend," he added.

"Played unbelievable, I have to say, all weekend but the fans they were really good throughout the tournament and I'm happy to come out the winner.

"Tonight I felt like no one could beat me, I felt on top of the world as anyone would.

"Especially when I'm putting in silly numbers.

"That goes to show why I've come here as the number one seed."

While it was a night to remember for Littler, it was an evening to forget for Smith.

The 33-year-old had been in contention to win with the scores at 3-3, only for his young opponent to then surge in front with no looking back.

And Smith admitted he was disappointed by his failure to come out on top.

"I just didn't do anything in the final," he said.

"It never happened for me, but I was lucky to be in the final. It's another runner-up trophy, which I've collected quite a few of over the years.

Smith is, however, hopeful that his run to the final bodes well for the future.

"This weekend puts me in good stead; I've had a bit of time off and now I'm ready to get back practicing hard for the rest of the year," he added.
