SERGIO PEREZ'S F-BOMB SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT RED BULL'S PROBLEMS AT AUSTRIAN GP

Sergio Perez unleashed his furious anger by slamming the performance of his Red Bull car at the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Mexican endured another difficult afternoon at the Red Bull Ring, finishing in seventh place. His struggles summed up an all round frustrating weekend of racing for the reigning champions. Max Verstappen finished in fifth after being handed a ten second penalty following a clash with Lando Norris.

While Verstappen's recent performances have allowed the likes of Norris and Charles Leclerc to move closer, Perez has also seen his performances dwindle. After he crossed the finish line, Perez's engineer, Hugh Bird, reached out to Checo to tell him he finished behind Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. He responded by launching a furious, swear-laden rant about the RB20, which has undergone multiple modifications over the last few races.

Perez could be heard shouting over the radio: "F***! I cannot believe that we're this slow. This is too much."

While the car had its struggles, Perez was also hindered by damage to the left side, which seemed to have a huge effect on his performance in the race. When asked about what happened, he said: "I think it was at the start of the race, with Piastri, at turn four.

"There is a lot of damage on the left side. The whole time I was struggling with the balance, and at no point could I get into a solid rhythm. At the beginning I was a bit similar to the people in front, but the damage was very big.

"I don't know exactly how much downforce we were losing, but when you look at it, it's a very sensitive part and I had no pace at all, in turn three I couldn't get any traction at all. The fight with (Nico) Hulkenberg at the end was difficult, difficult to pass him."

Matters were made even worse when he was penalised for exceeding the speed limit when he entered the pits for a tyre change on the 22nd lap. He added: "I didn't realise the speed limiter was on, and I pushed it twice. I knew that problem was coming.

"Difficult to say on my side, but with such a damaged car there wasn't much to do today, any tyre would suffer and I couldn't keep it at the ideal temperature."

The disappointment in Austria extended Perez's disappointing run without a podium finish. He began the 2024 campaign with four podiums in the first five Grands Prix, but he has not finished in the top three since the Chinese GP in April.

Perez signed a new contract at Red Bull at the the start of June which saw him extend his stay with the Milton Keynes outfit to 2026. He is currently fifth in the F1 drivers standings but could soon be overtaken by the likes of Piastri and the improving George Russell and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.
