PEREZ AWARE OF DIP IN FORM: 'I TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THAT'

Sergio Perez will need to regain his momentum in Budapest. Once he arrives in Hungary, the Mexican realises that his dip in form has put Red Bull's constructors' title at risk. This weekend, the man from Guadalajara will have to show his best side, as Red Bull has proven in the past it can be ruthless

"Well, I think I haven't been performing, first of all, at my 100%, with the circumstances when you put yourself in difficult positions," Perez revealed. "I obviously take a lot of responsibility for that. Obviously, there have been a lot of circumstances as well with different sorts of racing, different sorts of races. So I think it's a little bit of everything when you are in this vicious circle. We had a really strong Friday but then I messed up in Silverstone in qualifying so that was down to me. Then with the strategy in Silverstone, we just threw the dice and saw what happens. It didn't work for us. But I think the main thing is, I’ve been in this business for too long and I know that it will only matter where I finish in Abu Dhabi so let’s ride the roller coaster and get back on form very soon."

There is no lack of mental strength according to Perez

According to Perez, regaining his form is a mental challenge. And secretly, he even seems to enjoy it. "Mentally you have to be very strong and I believe that I've been very strong in the past it's a challenge that I'm facing right now to overcome this difficult period, and as I said before the reason I enjoy it so much, this challenge is because it's very difficult mentally. It's very difficult from the sports side to be able to just focus on that because it drains you completely. And the most important thing is that you focus on what you have to do and what you can change and the rest, just laugh at it," the Mexican said.
