MERCEDES SUMMONED TO FIA STEWARDS AFTER PARC FERME BREACH AT SPANISH GP

Mercedes have been called before the stewards at the Spanish Grand Prix, following an alleged breach of parc ferme instructions.

A Mercedes team representative and the two physiotherapists for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have been called to see the stewards after the Spanish Grand Prix, where the drivers finished in second and third place, respectively.

According to the summons, the grounds for calling the personnel to the stewards relates to an alleged breach of Article 12.2.1.i of the International Sporting Code, which outlines: “Failure to follow the instructions of the relevant officials for the safe and orderly conduct of the Event.”

The mention of the physiotherapists, as relating to the Media Delegate’s parc ferme post-race procedures, suggests that the exact offence is failing to obey the rule that “Driver physios must wait outside the cool-down room behind the podium until the podium ceremony has concluded following the instructions given to all teams by the Media Delegate.”
