LEWIS HAMILTON AND TOTO WOLFF SET DATE FOR CRUNCH TALKS AFTER FERRARI OFFER

and have set a date for talks over a new deal to remain at the Silver Arrows. The Mercedes driver said the pair would be meeting for a discussion on Monday with contract talks possibly set to be finalised.

Speaking in the post-race press conference, Hamilton said: "I haven't signed anything yet. But I think we're meeting with Toto tomorrow, so hopefully we can get something done."

Hamilton made the revelation just minutes after Wolff claimed a new agreement was close to being finalised when pushed by former driver Nico Rosberg. Speaking on Sky Sports F1, Rosberg asked his former boss: "When are you signing Lewis? What's going on there? I mean He is driving awesomely. What are you waiting for?"

Wolff replied: "I think we just need a good time to sit over coffee. That's going to take half an hour." It comes just a week after reports linked Hamilton with a £40million deal to move to Ferrari.

Since the rumours emerged, Hamilton has continued to deny any links to the Prancing Horse. In Monaco, Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur denied the team had approached Hamilton's representatives.

Meanwhile, Hamilton suggested the news was because people were "bored" and stressed any contract details were not correct if they didn't come from him. Mercedes bounced back in Spain as the team secured their first double podium finish of the season a week after installing new upgrades.

Hamilton was in a positive mood after the race and hopes the result will set the team up for the rest of the campaign. He explained: "The car felt great. We definitely have steps to continue taking to close the gap to the Red Bulls.

"But this is way more than I expected and I thoroughly enjoyed the race. As long as I've been racing here [in Barcelona], if you are quick here, you should be good elsewhere.

"But I think the way these cars work is they have a more narrow working window, so there will be tracks where they don't work maybe. I'm hoping that's not the case and they are as strong as they are this weekend." The Briton has continued to pledge his allegiance to the Silver Arrows despite their lack of pace.

When pushed on whether the team's difficult start to 2023 could play a factor in his future decision, Hamilton stressed it was not a major issue. He commented: "We're still a championship-winning team. It's just we've had the wrong car.

"There have been some decisions that have been made over the past two years that have not been ideal and we're working our way through that."
