F1 NEWS: LEWIS HAMILTON TOLD HE DESERVES £80M PAYDAY AS MERCEDES INVESTIGATE RED BULL
Max Verstappen is well and truly in the form of his life after cruising to a routine victory at last weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, with the Dutchman making things look simple by finishing over 25 seconds ahead of second-placed Fernando Alonso. However, it was a different story for Lewis Hamilton, who missed out on a podium finish in spite of his best efforts and will be looking to make amends in Spain this Sunday.
The 38-year-old will be hoping to reap the rewards of Mercedes' latest upgrade package at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this weekend, with the Silver Arrows having introduced a number of exciting performance upgrades in Monaco. However, it was always going to be tough to draw too many conclusions in Monte-Carlo given the unique nature of F1's most iconic street circuit.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has already warned that it could take some time before the German outfit will be able to truly enjoy the fruits of their labour, saying: "We will collect more data in Barcelona, but I don't expect us to clear Ferrari and Aston Martin there either. It is about understanding what does this car do now and how do we set it up?
"We are good at grinding away. Last year, the package was terrible at the beginning of the season and we won a race in Interlagos, so we will get there."
