TODD BOEHLY TOLD TO MAKE £68M CHELSEA U-TURN FOR GRAHAM POTTER

Tammy Abraham could cure Chelsea’s woes in front of goal and the club should re-sign the striker for £68million this summer.

The forward left Stamford Bridge in 2021 to join Roma, following the Blues’ club record £97.5m deal for Romelu Lukaku.

Abraham has taken his game to new heights under Jose Mourinho in the Italian capital and he hit 27 goals in his debut campaign at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lukaku was sent back to Inter Milan on loan after just one season back at Stamford Bridge and the Blues will attempt to sell the Belgian on a permanent deal this summer.

But Graham Potter’s side have lacked a cutting edge in front of goal this season, scoring just 29 goals in 27 matches.

Potter therefore wants to sign a prolific forward this summer and the club have been linked with Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

But Sutton believes Chelsea should trigger a reported £68m release clause in Abraham’s contract – which is said to become active in July – to bring him back to west London.

‘Tammy Abraham is an out and out No.9 and Chelsea decided to let him go,’ Sutton told Betting Sites.

‘That was a bit of a strange one, but of course they expected Lukaku to come in and have a stormer which he didn’t do.

‘Buying Tammy back is one of those that I could see happening. I think he’s done pretty well at Roma. The criticism of Chelsea is that while they have lots of creative players, they don’t actually have somebody to stick the ball in the net.

‘So I actually think £68m would be a smart piece of business to bring Tammy Abraham back to Chelsea.’
