NEWCASTLE UNITED STAR ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier has today announced his retirement from international football.

Kieran Trippier has informed England that he will be retiring from international football, he informed new England head-coach Lee Carsley that he would be retiring from international duty before Lee Carsley announced his first squad at 2 pm.

Trippier who was one of Gareth Southgate’s first names on the teamsheet made 54 caps for the Three Lions and also enjoyed four major tournaments, with his most memorable being the World Cup in Russia in 2018.

The first memory that comes to mind and millions of other fans will always be that free kick in the semi-final against Croatia, sending the whole country into a frenzy.

With Kieran Trippier getting to the later stages of his career now it seems that he will be focusing more on his club career and trying to help Newcastle United push back into the Champions League spots.

Luckily right back is a position that England is currently very blessed in with a few real standout players looking at making that position their own.

We have Kyle Walker who was another one who was favoured under Southgate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose minutes were limited under Southgate will be hoping to cement that position under Lee Carsley, and it also opens the opportunity for Arsenal right-back Ben White, who had omitted himself from the England side after a fallout with assistant manager Steve Holland.

Lee Carsley has announced his first squad as England head coach which sees Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, and Man City youngster Rico Lewis, who has definitely done enough to earn his first England call-up after impressing Pep Guardiola at Man City, who will play out of those three we will soon find out.

Who do you think will replace Kieran Trippier in the right-back position?
