Middlesbrough have confirmed that they will sign versatile young midfielder Terrell Agyemang on a free transfer from Manchester City this summer.
The 20-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with Boro and will officially move to the club at the end of June when his contract with Man City expires. A versatile player, he is described as a box-to-box midfielder on the Manchester City website, but can also play at right-back.
Agyemang joined City last summer after being released by Charlton Athletic. He had interest from QPR too, but impressed in the North West during a short trial period before being handed a contract at the Etihad. He would play 13 times for City's under-21s as they retained their Premier League 2 title, registering two assists in that time.

Boro coaches are likely to have a closer look at Agyemang when he arrives this summer but it is believed he will initially be part of the club's under-21 squad. Born in London to Ghanian parents, it marks another player brought into the clubs academy from further afield, with Martin Carter discussing in an interview recently how successful the club have been at finding untapped potential in and around the capital.
Agyemang will have plenty of boys around him on Teesside who have been in a similar position to him in moving to club, not least Isaiah Jones, Bryant Bilongo and Kamil Conteh to name but a few. Djed Spence is perhaps the best example, after he moved from Fulham to Boro before eventually moving to Tottenham in a deal that could eventually bank Boro £20m.
