MICHAEL BEALE SENT TIMELY RANGERS WARNING AS PUNDIT REVEALS IN-DEMAND STAR BOSS WANTS TO STAY

Michael Beale is facing a Rangers midfield exodus this season but could still want to retain the services of Glen Kamara.

The Finnish international was a solid find for the Ibrox side when he joined from Dundee in 2019 and has played key roles under Beale in two different settings; first as Rangers coach under Steven Gerrard and now as fully-fledged boss. Kamara found himself down the pecking order under Gio Van Bronckhorst but has featured more in recent months since the Englishman's arrival.

The recruitment of Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege looks to have been a plan to offset the potential departures of Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis as all three are out of contract in the summer with no new deals penned as of yet. Kamara had previously garnered transfer interest from Ligue 1 but a move never materialised.

And according to former Ibrox defender Alan Hutton, keeping the 27-year-old in the Rangers system would be a smart piece of business. Yet he knows that the 'ball is in his court' over his future.

He told Football Insider: “I think Michael Beale will want to keep him around.

“You look at the players that they could possibly be losing from the midfield, do they want another? Probably not. I would like to see him stay but I really think the decision is going to come down to him.

“Michael Beale has come in, he really likes him, he knows him from his previous time with him under [Steven] Gerrard.

“He has played a lot of football since Beale came in and is obviously a key part of that team. I think the ball is really in his court, does he want to leave? Does he want a fresh challenge? That is up to him.

“He is not out of contract so there will have to be a fee. So it is going to be down to Rangers whether they want to take it or not.“
