MAN CITY PREDICTED LINEUP VS WEST HAM: KEY CHANGE MADE AS 'OUTSTANDING' STAR STEPS IN

The latest Manchester City team news, injury updates and predicted XI ahead of their Premier League encounter with

Manchester City head into their third game of the 2024/25 Premier League season at the top of the three and as just one of four clubs to win both of their two games so far. After their opening 2-0 win over Chelsea, Pep Guardiola’s side beat Ipswich Town 4-1 at home, extending a tough start for the new boys after they previously lost to Liverpool.

Fans of the Citizens and those with Fantasy Premier League teams will be eager to see Erling Haaland back in action, with him already in superb form after just two games. The back-to-back Golden Boot winner is on four goals for the season already, after a strike against Chelsea and a hat-trick at the Etihad against Ipswich.

Next up for Guardiola and his side is a visit to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United, who last beat Crystal Palace in the league. Let’s take a look at City’s latest news, fitness updates and how they could set up to take on the Irons.

Team news

City have had a busy window for sales, cashing in on the likes of Julián Alvarez and João Cancelo to contribute to their net balance of €116 million (£97.5m) so far this window. They have brought back club icon İlkay Gündoğan from Barcelona in a free move, as well as £30 million winger Savinho.

The Brazilian has started both City’s Premier League fixtures so far but Jack Grealish is pushing for his spot back in the team after being included in Lee Carsley’s first England camp for the upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Injury updates

Oscar Bobb remains unavailable for City after suffering an injury during training. The 21-year-old is expected to be out for ‘3-4 months’ after undergoing surgery. Three other City players are a doubt for the upcoming West Ham clash.

Phil Foden is a doubt after he missed the Ipswich outing due to illness, but he is expected to be somewhat involved in Guardiola’s match-day squad.

Rodri and Mateo Kovačić also carry some fitness concerns. Guardiola said on August 24th that it was a ‘question of days’ before Rodri was back in group training and that they would see if Kovačić can recover in time for the next match.

Predicted XI

It’s no surprise that City are looking strong and even if with injury niggles, they have plenty of options to turn to. Based on the comments about Kovačić, he could return to face West Ham but he may be rested for the first half of the match at least, with the ‘outstanding’ Gündoğan taking the midfield spot instead. Meanwhile, it’s sensible to suggest a lot of Guardiola’s initial choices will stay the same.

Predicted XI: Ederson; Rico Lewis, Manuel Akanji, Rúben Dias, Joško Gvardiol, Bernardo Silva, İlkay Gündoğan, Kevin De Bruyne, Savinho, Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku.
