LIVERPOOL XI VS INTER MILAN: STARTING LINEUP AND CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS

Both Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak start for Liverpool against Inter Milan tonight as Mohamed Salah has been left on Merseyside.

Following a dramatic 3-3 draw with Leeds at the weekend - the third Premier League game in a row for which Salah was named on the bench - the Egypt international made headlines with an incendiary post-match interview.

Salah suggested that he could leave the Premier League champions in January, said he has been made out as the scapegoat for their struggles this season and shockingly revealed that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot has broken down.

As a result, despite training as normal on Monday, Salah was left out of the Liverpool squad that travelled to Milan for the sixth matchday of this season’s league phase.

Salah’s absence means Dominik Szoboszlai continues on the right flank, with Florian Wirtz dropped to the bench.

Cody Gakpo has also been left on Merseyside having missed training on Monday morning along with an ill Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo.

The Dutchman is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury against Leeds but Slot has said that Chiesa could yet join up with the squad on Tuesday.

After netting a brace at Elland Road, Ekitike keeps his place in the team, shifted out wide to accommodate Isak through the middle.

Slot restores Joe Gomez at right-back, replacing Conor Bradley who returned from injury against Leeds. On the opposite flank, Milos Kerkez makes way for Andy Robertson.
