'JOKE' - MANCHESTER UNITED & WREXHAM FANS ANGRY AT EYEWATERING PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY TICKET PRICES

Manchester United and Wrexham fans will have to fork out an eyewatering fee for tickets to this summer's US friendly between the two sides.

A youthful United side will take on the Red Dragons at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on Tuesday, July 25. Tickets for the match went on general sale this week, having initially been available to pre-sale at a cheaper price.

But by the time general sale started the cheapest ticket was a massive $235 (£189.89). Most tickets, available via Ticketmaster, are priced at $275 (£222.14) while some 'verified resale' admissions will set you back $3,200 (£2,584.74).

It's left fans of both clubs outraged at the price, taking to social media to vent the frustration.

When the clash with Wrexham was announced, United's football director John Murtough said: "This will be the first time the team has visited San Diego, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our passionate US fans at the Snapdragon Stadium.

"Pre-season tours are always a great occasion to give opportunities for our most promising young academy players to gain valuable experience in the first team environment, and this match against Wrexham AFC is a great example of that. Manchester United has a history of nurturing and promoting youth and this is a chance for not only Erik but also our US supporters to assess the homegrown talent that is developing within our academy, and hopefully to be able to say: 'I saw him first,' if some of those players go on to establish themselves as first team regulars."
