HUDDERSFIELD TOWN MAN MOVES TO LEAGUE ONE RIVALS

Tyreece Simpson announced his departure from Huddersfield Town, in a tweet which detailed his thanks for the fans, players and staff before linking up with fellow League One side Stevenage.

Tyreece Simpson arrived at Huddersfield Town at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign, the forward faced challenges in finding his form on the pitch.

The promising young striker fell short of expectations with a disappointing debut season that saw him fail to contribute any goals or assists in 10 appearances across all competitions for the Terriers.

The 22-year-old was shipped out to Northampton Town on loan during the 2023/24 season, continuing on from his lacklustre previous season. The frontman notched six goals and one assist in 44 appearances across all competitions for the Cobblers.

The player began his career at Ipswich Town, before embarking on a loan spell to Swindon Town, arguably the stand out period of his career, where he contributed nine goals in 25 appearances which earned him a move to Huddersfield Town.

He now links up with Alex Revell’s side ahead of the new season.

On the move the manager added:

“Tyreece is big, quick and strong, has played Championship and League One football and is still only 22 years old. We’ve worked hard to get him to come to us on a permanent and we can’t wait to get started”.

A crossroads for the striker and the club.

Simpson joined Huddersfield Town full of promise for a significant fee, but his move to the Terriers has failed to bring the results all parties were expecting. Now at 22 years old he faces a crossroad as to where the rest of his career will end up. He is still young and not yet at his peak so has time on his side to rectifying it, but it is clear his stock has fallen since his spell at the County Ground.

Stevenage are also at a crossroad, Steve Evans’ departure came as a shock after guiding them from the brink of a return to non-league football to challenging for a spot in the play-offs for the Championship. Alex Revell is well thought of and knows the club well after working with the former Leeds boss as his assistant. It is a big season in what is shaping up to be an incredibly competitive league.
