DAVID DATRO FOFANA LEAVES CHELSEA FOR GOZTEPE LOAN AFTER AEK ATHENS TRANSFER COLLAPSE

Chelsea have announced David Fofana has completed a season-long move to Turkish club Goztepe.

Fofana, who joined the Blues from Molde in 2023, has made four appearances for the club. He had been tipped for a move to Greek side AEK Athens but that reportedly collapsed after they requested a change in terms, leaving Fofana in a state of limbo.

According to The Athletic, the move to Turkey has an option to make the deal permanent for £20m next summer and a recall clause in January has been included.

The Ivorian forward spent half of last campaign at Bundesliga side Union Berlin before he made another temporary switch to Burnley.

The 21-year-old had a hand in five Premier League goals for the Clarets but ended his time at Turf Moor after their relegation to Sky Bet Championship.

A Chelsea statement read: “We look forward to monitoring and supporting David during his loan. Good luck, David.”
