CHELSEA PLAYER RATINGS: DANNY WELBECK AND FIVE PLAYERS GET 5S AS BLUES BEATEN BY JUVENTUS

Chelsea suffered the second defeat of their pre-season tour as Serie A side Juventus ran out 1-0 winners at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong. A second-half strike from Edon Zhegrova was enough for the Serie A side in a game that lacked any real quality - aside from the finish for the goal.

The Blues dominated possession, but Juventus had the better of the opportunities. The Italian side forced Robert Sanchez into a number of decent first-half saves before eventually finding the breakthrough in the second half.

Zhegrova curled in a brilliant effort from outside the box into the top corner, leaving substitute goalkeeper Mike Penders with no chance of saving it. Alonso's side beat Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 before a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

It's now back-to-back defeats for the Blues, with Mykhailo Mudryk making his long-awaited return during the match. Here are the player ratings from Hong Kong...

Chelsea player ratings

Robert Sanchez - 7

Pulled off some good saves, keeping out Jeremie Boga on two occasions. He was the busier of the two goalkeepers, but wasn't really threatened.

Marco Palestra - 7

Linked up well with Quenda down the right-hand side and defended well on the whole.

Wesley Fofana - 6

Didn't really put a foot wrong in the first half. Defended well and limited Arkadiusz Milik to very little.

Tosin Adarabioyo - 6

Like his defensive partner, he kept Milik very quiet and looked assured on the ball at the back.

Jorrel Hato - 6

Defended well on the whole, but Juventus started to get some joy down his side as the first half wore on.

Geovany Quenda - 7

Looked a threat down the right, put some dangerous balls into the box. A bright showing.

Moises Caicedo - 8

Chelsea's best outfield player. Dictated the play when the Blues had possession and had the most touches on the ball.

Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli - 6

Has impressed so far in pre-season and didn't look out of place playing alongside some world-class players.

Jamie Gittens - 7

Enjoyed some nice runs down the left flank, but lacked an end product.

Danny Welbeck - 5

His first minutes for Chelsea since his move to the club, he worked hard but had little to show for it, bar one close effort.

Jaoa Pedro - 5

Less involved than his fellow forward, a quiet outing compared to his usual standards.

Substitutes

Nicolas Jackson - 4 (45 - on for Welbeck)

Came on for Welbeck and gave Chelsea a bit more mobility up front, but again, offered little if anything.

Mamadou Sarr - 6 (45 on for Tosin)

Steady if not spectacular.

Estevao - 7 (45 on for Quenda)

Caused havoc down the right after coming on at the half-time interval. Juventus really struggled to deal with him.

Mike Penders - 6 (45 on for Sanchez)

An imposing presence for Chelsea in between the sticks. Commanded his area well, and there was nothing he could do with the Juve goal.

Dario Essugo - 5 (65 for Caicedo)

Took the captain's armband when he came onto the pitch and struggled. Wanted too much time on the ball.

Liam Delap - 5 (65 for Pedro)

Didn't get into the game after coming on in place of Pedro, went on a few decent runs, but no end product.

Romeo Lavia - 6 (65 for Nicoll-Jazuli)

Worked hard after coming off the bench, but didn't really impact the game.

Aaron Anselmino - 5 (65 for Hato)

The goal came down his side and needed to be closer to Zhegrova for the Juventus opener

Josh Acheampong - 6 (65 for Palestra)

Offered less than Palestra going forward, but was solid defensively.

Olutayo Subuloye - 5 (65 for Fofana)

Needed to get out to Zhegrova quicker and close him down for the Juventus opener.

Dastan Satpaev - 6 (65 for Gittens)

Bright when he came on. Tried to make things happen and wasn't afraid to demand the ball.

Mykhailo Mudryk - 6 (80 for Jackson)

Barely touched the ball after coming on for a 10-minute cameo, his first football for Chelsea in 20 months.
