Kris Boyd has never been one to hide that his allegiances lie with Rangers and the Sky Sports pundit took more than a little enjoyment out of seeing his team beat Real Betis.
The former Gers striker isn’t shy to say what he thinks and even if his opinions can vary from the norm, his honesty can always be relied upon.
Cutting to Boyd when Rangers opened the scoring, the Scottish Premiership’s top goalscorer provided analysis of the scramble before firing a few shots at a work colleague.
“Just watching it again right now, it’s Tavernier with a ball to the back post, Sam Lammers heads it back across, great header.
“Lundstram with a header, Roofe – what a save that is by Claudio Bravo – Goldson has a shot, it comes back, Davies puts it in the back of the net.
“Our Celtic producer on the show Johnny McCann is absolutely raging but it’s 1-0 to Rangers!”
We’ll let him off with getting the goalscorer wrong given how tight it was!
Rangers might be four points behind in the league already but, the win over Real Betis showed that Michael Beale has learned a few valuable lessons.
Celtic fans, after seeing their own side taught a lesson of their own by Feyenoord, would have been expecting the side sitting three points off the Champions League places in La Liga to turn us over.
If there is one thing they hate more than Rangers doing well, it’s Kris Boyd winding them up at the same time.
Sky Sports have obviously decided to take their coverage of Scottish football down a certain path, why else would they have Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton covering Rangers games together?
It isn’t for insightful punditry, it’s for moments similar to the one Boyd produced last night.
As long as we see more going in our favour than at our expense, then it could, eventually, turn into a decent season after all.
