ARSENAL JOIN MANCHESTER UNITED AND CHELSEA IN RACE FOR PREMIER LEAGUE STAR

Arsenal have reportedly joined Manchester United and Chelsea in the battle for an England and Premier League striker as the deadline approaches.

It had been widely reported that Chelsea had approached Brentford to discuss a move for Ivan Toney as they continue to search for an out and out number nine to add to the squad. They have also been linked with moves for Victor Osimhen and Aston Villa star Jhon Duran, but the 28-year-old remains their prime target.

Manchester United were also linked with a move, but have since publicly distanced themselves stating that their transfer kitty is empty following the addition of PSG star Manuel Ugarte. Their focus instead appears to be focused on Jadon Sancho’s departure and the addition of Raheem Sterling from Chelsea.

Now, according to Wayne Versey, a third Premier League giant are set to enter the race as Arsenal have been linked. The report states that they have been preparing a bid after agreeing to the terms of Eddie Nketiah’s £25million move to Crystal Palace.

Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli have also been linked to the player, with their transfer window extending three days beyond the English one.

Where will Toney end up?

It is likely that there are three parties at play here, Crystal Palace who clearly want to raise the price of their star asset, Toney’s camp that want to get him the best possible move and a few clubs that may have varying levels of interest. Where the truth lies with these reports will become clear over the next 24 hours or so but it is becoming increasingly likely that the player will depart over the next few days.

Manchester United’s public distancing does perhaps shed some light on what is happening behind the scenes as the various parties all use whatever is at their disposal to either raise the price or garner more interest.

It will certainly prove to be one of the major sagas of deadline day.
