CRIS CYBORG CLAIMS KAYLA HARRISON "RAN AWAY" FROM PFL MEGA-FIGHT

MMA legend Cris Cyborg thinks Kayla Harrison "ran away" from their mega-fight by signing with the UFC.

Harrison joined the UFC in January after spending half a decade competing for the PFL. The two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo won the promotion’s illustrious $1million tournament twice and was linked to a fight against Cyborg after PFL merged with Bellator in a major acquisition last November.

Cyborg, who competes in her latest boxing fight tonight against Aria Wild at Crypto Fight Night Off-Chain 1 in London, is frustrated that she never got the opportunity to fight Harrison after the promotional merger happened. Harrison's only loss came against Larissa Pacheco two years ago and Cyborg explained why she wants to fight Pacheco next.

“I think that fighting Larissa Pacheco is going to kill two birds with one stone," Cyborg told Mirror Fighting . "She lost to Pacheco and she ran away from me and Pacheco by going to the UFC. Now people know the story, they know that she is running away. I think after I fight Larissa and beat her it will change people’s minds.

“Pacheco is the champion, I think she is a young and dangerous opponent. A new generation of fighter. I signed a bout agreement to fight Pacheco in September and everything was working perfect, but the PFL called me time and said the fight is no longer going to happen for that date. I don’t know what fight is going to be next.

Cyborg has won MMA world titles in four different promotions but has turned her attention to boxing in recent years. The 38-year-old is scheduled to go four rounds against influencer Wild tonight and wants to make a quick turnaround by returning to MMA in her next fight.

“I think that fighting Leah McCourt next to defend my Bellator belt makes sense," she added. "McCourt is next in line but champion vs champion for me against Pacheco makes sense too." Crypto Fight Night 'Off Chain' takes place tonight, Saturday 15th June, at Indigo at The O2, London. Tickets are available to buy here and the fights can be streamed live on Triller TV.
